Fuck Off I Love You is a combination of various genres, an independent film by director Anđelo Jurkas, screened as premieres in the Arena tonight. The film is based on a book that is yet to be published, and the story revolves around complex personal relationships.
“We have all combinations of relationships: male-female, male-male, and female-female,” Jurkas said at the press conference, adding that the film also has some autobiographical, documentarist, as well as fictional elements.
“It is not a pretentious story, it actually came about from my need to create a film about it, a film about love, where I sometimes talk about love in a tragic way, and sometimes in a comical way, with some parody in between,” Jurkas said, announcing two more sequels in the film trilogy.
The film boasts well-known names of the acting world, including Judita Franković as actress.
“It was a bit odd for me, especially because I find it difficult to say for myself that I’m an actress, even though I love what I do,” Franković said in response to the question of what it was like to kiss her film partner and old friend Goran Bogdan.
Dalibor Grubačević, the author of the music, said the film is full of famous songs, as well as those less famous, while the theme song is by the famous band Faith No More.
Fuck Off I Love You also boasts music stars, including Zoran Predin, Gibonni, Tonči Huljić, Anđa Marić, Mile Kekin, and many more.
The second film screened on the third day of the Festival is also by Anđelo Jurkas: Because of You. When asked whether the tempo of working on two films in a short period of time was difficult, Jurkas said that, for him, working on films is “the easiest job in the world.”
Andrej Korovljev and Tomislav M. Klarić are co-directors of the film, alongside Jurkas.
The idea for the film came about during his work with Leona Paraminski on a short film, and this story is also a combination of biographic and autobiographic elements.
“We worked in role playing, so that we can avoid overacting,” Jurkas said.
Iskra Jirsak, one of the many beautiful and talented actresses in the film, was more than happy with the experience of filming.
“I was surrounded by very beautiful actresses and good actors. Jurkas was my film partner, and we had to do several takes, because we laughed as soon as we looked at each other,” Jirsak said.
Marko Cindrić plays a character who tries to discourage a friend from committing suicide.
“I thought the story was cool. I had to use my imagination in order to get into character. I worked with Urban, who impressed me with his acting,” Cindrić said.
Dalibor Grubačević was in charge of the music in this Jurkas’s film as well.
“In a way, the music underscores the scenes, and gives the film its inevitable, special mark,” he said.
