In the next two years Mr Zlatko Vidačković will serve as artistic director of the Pula Film Festival. Mr Vidačković held the same position before the introduction of the Artistic Council, terminated by the amendments of the Ordinance on the work and financing of the Pula Film Festival. Artistic director is appointed and dismissed by the minister of culture and he or she is responsible for the execution of the Festival’s programme. The Festival Council, presided over by the minister of culture, decides about the proposals set forth by the Artistic Director.
Zlatko Vidačković (Šibenik, 1972) is a film critic, editor, university lecturer and producer of film events and programmes. He holds a master’s degree in Journalism and is now pursuing his Ph.D. in Information and Communication Sciences at the Zagreb Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
It should also be mentioned that he is, among other things, the initiator and editor-in-chief of Kulisa.eu, on-line culture and performing arts newspaper, which served as the basis for the creation of web-pages Kazaliste.hr, Klasika.hr, Plesnascena.hr, and Filmovi.hr, which he has edited since the beginnings. From 2010 to 2016, he served as editor-in-chief of the magazine Hrvatsko glumište. Moreover, he served as the president of the Croatian Society of Film Critics for five terms, from 2003 to 2008, as well as a member of the FIPRESCI jury at Cannes, San Francisco, Berlin and Venice. He is the vice president of the Federation of Film Critics of Europe and the Mediterranean FEDEORA as well as of the International Press Academy.
He served as artistic director of the Pula Film Festival for four terms, from November 2004 until February 2014. He is the initiator and he has served as head of programming of the art-cinema Metropolis in the Museum of Contemporary Art Zagreb since its establishment in September 2010. He initiated and produced the European Film Days, running in the European Week in May 2002 and 2013. In 2013, he was in charge of the Film Programme of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival.
