Pula Film Festival, the oldest and most significant film festival in Croatia, is once again creating a unique pool of young film lovers. True cinephiles will be discussing and analysing valuable films by getting directly involved in active discussions about the films, filmmakers and film critics.

Pula Film Festival is once again organising a special programme designed for all young film lovers, Young Cinephiles, as part of Pula PROfessional. This year, young cinephiles will stay in Pula for the duration of the Festival, watch films, write reviews and present awards to the best films based on their selection, but they will also meet a number of film authors and professionals from the audiovisual industry.

Who are Young Cinephiles?
The project Young Cinephiles has been organised for a number of years as part of Pula Film Festival, gathering all young future professionals from the field of audiovisual production, film enthusiasts and lovers of the seventh art - with the goal of broadening their horizons in terms of thinking about and consuming film.

Who can apply?
If you are between 18 and 29 years of age with excellent knowledge of Croatian and English, and you are a passionate lover of the seventh art - we invite you to join us at Pula Film Festival and officially become a Young Cinephile!

How to apply?
To apply, you need to submit a short motivation letter (one standard page of text) and your resume, plus a film critic assignment - to apply, you need to write a review of a feature-length Croatian film of your choice produced in the period between 2013 and 2017.

What are the obligations of Young Cinephiles?
Nine cinephiles, who will be chosen by this year’s mentor - eminent film critic Tomislav Kurelec, will be given an opportunity to be part of the largest Croatian film festival! Other than writing film reviews, which will be published daily, the participant of the Young Cinephiles programme will also have an obligation to take part in lectures and film talks and discussions.

Selected participants will also present the Young Cinephiles Award, so their task is to serve as a jury for the selection of films. They will also have a number of other interesting obligations, which will make their stay in Pula unforgettable! Pula Film Festival provides all selected cinephiles with accommodation and meals, festival catalogues and materials, as well as special accreditation for all festival showings.
