Safe Flight, a short film by Aldo Tardozzi, was presented at a press conference today. In the words of the director, he decided on a short film because he didn't want to drag out the story, but there were also some economic reasons. "We are extremely glad to be in Pula, especially because this is where we filmed", Tardozzi said.
This is a serious film written in a funny way, based on the fact that some families decide to split up when they fly so that, in case of worst case scenario, at least some of the family members are saved.
Bruno Mašić, who plays the son, said that working with Tardozzi was very fun. "This is my first role in film. It wasn't difficult; I love acting, and I also gained new experiences," he told the press.
Barbara Jukopila, one of the producers, said that 80 percent of the film was financed by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre (HAVC). "We filmed at Pula Airport, because it was more practical and simpler than Zagreb Airport", she said, adding that they have also submitted the film to some world film festivals.
Igor Bezinović is the author of today's film A Brief Excursion, based on the motives of a novel by Šoljan. "We didn't just translate the story to film, we made it work for this day and age", Bezinović said. He had spent a lot of time in Istria and has recognised a lot of the things from the novel. "Also, the first ten pages of Šoljan's novel are very visual and were very easily made a part of the film".
Co-screenwriter and actor Ante Zlatko Stolica said they filmed for 20 days. "We filmed on very hot and sunny days, and I mostly waked, which made it rather difficult", he said.
Hrvoslava Brkušić, the editor, is extremely pleased with working on this film: "It was a very nice experience, because I was present at the filming, where we watched the footage together and created the film on the spot".
Hrvoje Nikšić is the author of the music. He said that the task was to make the music have an Istrian feel. "We incorporated the sound from sopele, which gave the needed Istrian feel", he concluded.
